New Delhi. The Indian team under the leadership of the new captain showed a completely new color in Kolkata and gave its fans the happiness they were waiting for for two months. The Indian team, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, defeated England by 7 wickets in the first T20 match. This is also the first win for the Indian men’s cricket team in 2025. India had won the last match before this in Perth in November last year. India had to wait 58 days for its next win after Perth.

The first match of the 5-match T20 series between India and England was played in Kolkata. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first. his/her decision paid off and Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt in the very first over. Arshdeep Singh showed the way to the pavilion to Ben Duckett in his/her next over. In this way, he/she also became the bowler who took the most T20 International wickets from India.

The pressure created by Arshdeep Singh was taken full advantage of by other Indian bowlers. Varun Chakraborty dismissed Harry Brook (17) and Liam Livingston (0) in the eighth over of the match, reducing England’s score to 65 runs for 4 wickets. Even under this pressure, English captain Jos Buttler played a good innings and scored 68 runs. But wickets kept falling at the other end.

Lost 5 wickets for 25 runs
Despite the pressure, England had at one time scored 95 runs for 5 wickets. At that time it seemed that he/she would score 150. But Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi performed brilliantly and forced England to be all out for 132 runs. Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi took 2 wickets each. Varun Chakraborty was India’s most successful bowler with 3 wickets.

Sanju-Abhishek gave a good start
The Indian team, chasing an easy target, started with a bang. Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma made an opening partnership of 41 runs in 4.2 overs. Sanju Samson (26 runs in 20 balls) could not prolong his/her innings. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (0) also returned to the pavilion early but Abhishek did not make such a mistake.

Abhishek Sharma scored 79 runs in 34 balls
Left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma played a stormy innings of 79 runs in 34 balls and took India closer to victory. When Abhishek was out, India’s score was 125 runs. After his/her dismissal, Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya easily took India beyond the target. India won this match in 12.5 overs i.e. with 43 balls remaining.
