IND Vs BAN: Best day in Indian Test history, bowling-batting-fielding amazing in every field

(Vimal Kumar, from Green Park Stadium, Kanpur)

If someone had told the local audience on the morning of the fourth day of the Kanpur Test that Team India is still a strong contender to win this Test match, then perhaps no one would have believed it. But, it seemed as if Rohit Sharma and his/her teammates were determined that even if the stadium was not world class, even if more than 2 days of cricket was lost due to the negligence of the organisers, they would compensate for everything. Will do it with his/her brilliant game. Fulfilling the expectations of the spectators of Kanpur, Team India showed such a captivating game in all three areas, whether fielding, bowling and batting, that perhaps it would not be wrong to say that this was one of the best days of India in Test cricket on Indian soil. Remained one.

In the last three days, this writer has met thousands of spectators in Kanpur and everyone had the hope in their heart that even if Team India is not able to play, they should at least come to the field and show their glimpses to the spectators. Throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, one-fourth of the stadium was filled with constant noise and excitement in the hope that the match would somehow start. Some had come from Varanasi and some from Mirzapur. Even from Patna, the capital of Bihar, the number of spectators coming was not less. But perhaps it doesn’t matter to the indifferent officials of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. The status of BCCI was being ridiculed all over the world due to the lack of basic facilities of the stadium, while the surveyor of the local cricket association, Rajeev Shukla, avoided the whole matter by saying that till date no match has ever been canceled on this ground. .

Team India wants to win at any cost
However, we have to praise the enthusiasm and passion of the local spectators, who, ignoring all the negative aspects, visited the team stadium for the fourth consecutive day and it seemed as if they got all the money back in just one day’s play. Under no circumstances does Team India want that they have to depend on the results of the Test matches of the upcoming Australia tour to play the final in the World Test Championship. Therefore, in any case, the team’s desire is to defeat Bangladesh first and then New Zealand in every match.

Rohit played in T10 style, not T20
The very aggressive attitude of Team India can be gauged from the fact that the captain and his/her fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal started batting in Test cricket with the run rate of T10 and not ODI or T20. After all, you don’t get to see a run rate figure of 14.34 during T20 matches or even during IPL on batting-friendly pitches. The pair, who made a half-century partnership in just 23 balls, maintained such a run rate that the bowlers of the visiting team were completely stunned. As captain in recent years, Rohit Sharma has made his/her batting philosophy clear to the team. What matters is not personal records but contribution to the team. It will not be easy to forget his/her innings of 23 runs in 11 balls because only three batsmen in history before him/her had been able to show the feat of hitting two sixes in the first two balls in a Test match. One of which was named Sachin Tendulkar. At the speed with which Rohit is hitting sixes in Test cricket, Virender Sehwag’s record of hitting most sixes for India also seems to be lasting only a few weeks.

Yashasvi and Rahul have a stronger game than Rohit.
his/her young partner Jaiswal and KL Rahul played more powerful innings than Rohit in the middle order. Jaiswal expressed his/her intentions by hitting three consecutive fours in the very first over and his/her strike rate of 141.17 was not surprising in any way. But, who would have thought that after his/her dismissal, Rahul could bat even faster than him/her in the middle order. Rahul also scored the second half-century of the Indian innings, but his/her strike rate of around 160 (158.13) was enough to prove that this team can play whenever it wants, changing gears according to the occasion and situation. And after the end of the day’s play, the team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel admitted the same thing.

Jadeja achieved a big achievement
However, amidst the collective brilliant game of batsmen and bowlers, Monday was also a very memorable day for Team India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. It can be expected that Jadeja will cross the figure of 311 Test wickets before taking the flight to Perth in the month of November. Now you must be thinking that why are we talking about 311 on the day Jadeja completed his/her 300 wickets? Actually, very few people might know that in the history of Team India, two very successful bowlers, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, have 311-311 wickets in Test cricket. If Jadeja manages to reach 312 by the end of the New Zealand series, then he/she will be included among the 5 most successful bowlers of all time in Indian history. Just as his/her country realized the greatness of Anil Kumble a little late, the same happened with Ravichandran Ashwin. But, under the influence of Ashwin, many times a powerful bowler like Jadeja does not get the discussion that he/she truly deserves. Now think that in the history of Test cricket, only former England captain Ian Botham has completed the record of ‘doubles’ of 3000 Test runs and 300 wickets by playing 2 matches less than him/her. Only 11 players have achieved this feat in Test cricket and among those who have taken more than 300 Test wickets for India, this 35-year-old player has the highest average (24.00) and strike rate (58.0). Till now, Ashwin, Bumrah, Akashdeep and Siraj have combined to dominate the entire match. Now can it be expected that Jadeja will emerge as the biggest hero with the ball on the last day of the match in the first or second session?
