IND vs AUS Turning Point: Bangladeshi umpire gave Yashasvi out without proof and India lost…

New Delhi. On the Australia tour, once again what the host bowlers could not do, the umpire did. When Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting fiercely in the Melbourne Test and was standing like a wall in front of Australia’s victory, the third umpire gave a decision which pushed the Indian team on the backfoot. This was such a decision, immediately after which Sanjay Manjrekar said that for the first time in his/her career he/she had seen a batsman getting out in this manner. This doesn’t seem right at all. Sunil Gavaskar clearly said that it is not out.

When Yashasvi Jaiswal was given out, he/she was playing after scoring 84 runs. Washington Sundar was supporting him/her. India had to bat about 21 overs to draw the match. Australia needed 4 wickets to win. Then Yashasvi Jaiswal was given out on a ball from Pat Cummins. Within 50 balls of this controversial decision, India also lost its remaining three wickets. In this way, the team which was playing at 140 runs for 6 wickets at one time, was all out for 155 runs.

what is the whole matter
Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to hook Pat Cummins’ bouncer. he/she could not play the shot as per his/her plan and the ball reached behind, which was caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. There was an appeal for out, which was rejected by the umpire. After this Australia took DRS. TV replays showed that the ball was changing direction slightly as it approached the bat. But there was no movement at all on the Snickometer. The line was very straight. If the decision had been taken on the basis of Snico, it would have been not out. But Bangladesh’s third umpire Sharafuddaula declared it out. he/she said that he/she could see that the ball was touching the gloves. However, it did not appear so from any TV replays.

That was not out for me: Gavaskar
Sanjay Manjrekar and Sunil Gavaskar were extremely upset with the decision of the Bangladeshi umpire. Gavaskar said, ‘When there is technology and according to it the batsman is not out, then how can the third umpire give out. To overturn the umpire’s decision, the third umpire should have strong evidence, which was not there in the case of Yashasvi Jaiswal. In such a situation, he/she could not have been given out. For me he/she was not out.
