Before the start of the Test series between India and Australia (India vs Australia), WACA’s pitch chief curator Isaac McDonald said on Wednesday 20 November that unseasonal rain in Perth has affected the preparation of the pitch for the first Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. And they do not expect ‘curved cracks’ to form on it but despite this the pitch will still get a lot of bounce.

The pitches at Optus Stadium or WACA Ground are famous for their pace and bounce and the cracks formed in dry conditions provide more assistance to the fast bowlers. It has been raining here for the last few days and on Tuesday, covers were spread on the pitch all day due to which the curators could not get time to prepare.

McDonald told the media before the first Test starting on Friday, “Not much preparation has been done.” There were covers on the pitch throughout the day yesterday. Now we will start preparations soon for the next two days. I don’t think this pitch will break now. There is no possibility of curved cracks on it but the growth of grass will provide similar bounce. Last time it was eight to 10 mm. We are talking to our curator team about what can happen. It is certain that the pitch will have good pace and bounce. ”In such a situation, fast bowlers will get help here.

Let us tell you that the pitch is expected to remain moist on the match day, due to which there is no possibility of it breaking on the five days of the Test. The weather department has predicted clear skies from Friday onwards but the temperature may rise. Macdonald hoped for sunshine to arrive soon so that Perth’s traditional pitch could be prepared. Pakistan recently bowled out Australia for 140 runs in an ODI here. There was four mm grass on the pitch then but it may double during the first Test between India and Australia.
