IND vs AUS 4th Test: The time has come – Nitish should play at number 6, before Jadeja and then at number 4…

New Delhi. After Jasprit Bumrah on the Australia tour, if any player has performed well on every occasion, it is the 21-year-old young batsman. When Nitish Kumar Reddy was selected for the Australia tour, many experts raised questions on his/her role. The Indian management fielded him/her as the fourth pacer who also knows batting. But the scene has changed in just 5 weeks. Times have changed. Nitish Kumar Reddy has told that he/she has all the qualities of a specialist batsman. The team can trust him/her.

Nitish Kumar Reddy scored the most runs for India in the fourth test against Australia. These runs came when India had lost six wickets for 191 runs and were struggling to save the follow-on. Nitish Kumar Reddy took charge from here and took India beyond 300 runs. When premature tea break was taken on the third day due to bad light, India’s score was 326 runs for 7 wickets and Nitish Kumar Reddy was unbeaten on 85 runs.

Seeing Nitish Reddy’s batting, Sanjay Manjrekar while commenting on Star Sports said, ‘The time has come. Play Nitish as a batsman and not as a fourth seamer. Send Nitish to bat at number six. After him/her, play Ravindra Jadeja and then four specialist bowlers. This will improve the balance of the Indian team.

Sanjay Manjrekar gave the example of Ravi Shastri to promote Nitish. he/she said, ‘We all know about Ravi Shastri. he/she debuted as a specialist spinner and batted at number nine in the first match. But he/she had the ability to bat. The then management saw this and promoted him/her. Ravi Shastri opened the innings for India.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has made a partnership of 105 runs with Washington Sundar. This is the highest Indian partnership for the eighth wicket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
