The valley is cut by cutting the entire ghat

It is said that to make this entrance, the entire ghat was cut in one night. This is why this place was named Kati Ghati. This gate is 10 meters high and 25 meters wide. The inscription in Devanagari and Nashk scripts on this gate shows that Kati Ghati was built in 1480 AD. At the same time, the gate has been serving as the main route between Bundelkhand and Malwa for a long time.

Why was the gate built?

Why was the gate built?

The reason behind the construction of this gate is interesting and scary. It is said that in 1495 AD, Jimn Khan had to face a challenge. Sultan Ghiyasuddin Khilji of Malwa was about to visit, so a grand entrance gate was needed. Jimn Khan announced that the person who builds the gate overnight will get a big reward. A mason accepted the challenge. By morning the gate was ready. After seeing it, Khan was stunned.

However, the mason made a mistake here, for which he/she had to pay with his/her life. Actually, in a hurry, he/she forgot to make a place for the latch in the door. After which Jiman Khan refused to give him/her the reward. Because this endangered the safety of the Sultan of Malwa. In despair, the mason gave up his/her life here. Today there is a grave of that mason on the Kati Valley, where he/she fell.
