Try to resolve the matter by sitting among themselves. We will hear again after two weeks. On Thursday, a bench headed by Justice BR Gawai made this comment on the businessman who reached the Supreme Court in a matrimonial dispute. The businessman feared that the wife is an IPS officer, in such a situation, she will be harassed throughout her life. To this, the court said, ‘There is no one above the law in this country. Both should resolve disputes by negotiating in the interest of justice.

‘You try to finish her career’

The businessman’s lawyer said that the client and his/her father were sent to jail due to the FIR lodged by the woman. While joining the police service, the wife living separately said that no FIR was recorded on it, while on the day he/she had filled the form, 2 FIRs were registered on that day. On this, the Supreme Court made strict remarks, saying, “You (businessmen) are more interested in the fact that he/she (women police officer) lose his/her job.” The lawyer argued that if he/she had made any wrong announcement in his/her form, it is the job of the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action on it. On this, the bench said that you are not interested in saving your life, but you are more interested in trying to end his/her (women officer) career. In an attempt to ruin his/her life, you will also ruin your life.

Both sides said the agreement

The Supreme Court said that if the two sides are not ready to compromise, they cannot impose any agreement on them, but they can suggest to resolve the dispute. Then the lawyers from both sides said that their clients will sit together and try to reach a cordial solution. The petitions filed by the woman in the petitions filed in the apex court challenged the June 2022 decision of the Allahabad High Court, in which the High Court freed the parents of the person from the allegations in the criminal case filed by the woman.
