In Mahabharata, not only Shakuni but another uncle was the enemy of Pandavas, they got a lesson for cheating their nephews, cheaters should be careful

In the Mahabharata, in the war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, Lord Krishna became Arjuna’s charioteer and Pandavas’ maternal uncle Shalya became Karna’s charioteer. Let us tell you that King Shalya was Madri’s brother and the real maternal uncle of Nakul-Sahadeva. However, Yudhishthira, Bhima and Arjuna also called him/her uncle. At this time you must be wondering how Shalya supported the enemy when he/she was the real maternal uncle of Nakul and Sahadev.

By the way, in Indian history, King Shalya is seen as the biggest Paltu Ram and cheater. This uncle is accused of cheating his/her own nephews. Therefore, apart from Shakuni, there was another uncle Shalya who became the enemy of the Pandavas. However, he/she had to pay the price for cheating. The punishment he/she got also teaches every cheater. (Photo courtesy: Canva AI)

Nakul and Sahadev’s maternal uncle had betrayed them

In the Mahabharata war, both the Kauravas and the Pandavas were busy in getting great warriors on their side to strengthen themselves. Then the Pandavas sent a call for Nakul-Sahadeva’s uncle Shalya, who could defeat the enemy with just one blow of the mace. On getting to know the strategy of the Tandavas, Duryodhan made a plan and changed Shalya’s camp on the battlefield.

Uncle Shalya, who was staying in the enemy camp, was treated very well. As soon as the Pandavas came to know about this, they told Shalya the truth. But uncle Shalya left the Pandavas saying that he/she cannot fight against the Kauravas because he/she has eaten Duryodhan’s food.

Duryodhana, Karna and all the Kauravas were very happy to hear uncle Shalya’s decision. Seeing the opportunity, Duryodhana asked Shalya to become Karna’s companion and he/she agreed. However, Shalya had to pay the price for betraying the Pandavas.

While living with the Kauravas on the battlefield, Shalya also became negative and forgot morality. One day he/she attacked Yudhishthira in the Kurukshetra war with the intention of killing him/her. In response to which, on the inspiration of Shri Krishna, Yudhishthira threw Shiva’s spear at Shalya, which hit his/her chest and he/she died.

Nothing is gained by cheating

Nothing is gained by cheating

Seeing the plight of uncle Shaly, every person should learn that success is never achieved by cheating or walking on the wrong path. Rather you have to pay a very big price for it. Uncle Shaly had to pay the price of this betrayal by giving his/her life. If he/she had not cheated his/her nephews, he/she would not have been in this condition.

Nobody trusts a cheater

Nobody trusts a cheater

It would not be wrong to say that no one trusts a deceitful person. If someone cheats once, he/she is identified as a cheater. Even when he/she does not behave like this, people’s perspective does not change. In their eyes, he/she becomes a cheater forever. That is why cheating is considered a wrong behavior.

Even our own people leave us

Even our own people leave us

Not only outsiders but even his/her own people do not support a deceitful person. Because he/she has broken the foundation of the relationship, i.e. trust. After losing trust, it becomes difficult for everyone to trust again. The purpose of telling this story of Mahabharata is to make one understand the consequences of cheating.
