According to the Beijing News report, a rule was enforced in the school that no student can leave their hostel rooms after 10.45 pm. During this period, restrictions were also imposed on using the toilet. Students were told that if they wanted to use the toilet during the curfew, they would have to take permission from the hostel administration. But the student did not do so and went to the toilet breaking the curfew rules.

According to the report of South China Morning Post, the student was asked to write a letter of ‘introspection’ (writing a letter mentioning his/her mistake). he/she was also instructed to distribute 1000 copies of his/her letter among his/her colleagues. The student followed the advice of the school administration and did just that. However, even after this, some marks were deducted from the score given to the student every month for his/her conduct.
