Important news for Indians studying in Canada! New rule made for college transfer, read details here

Canada University Transfer Rules: Students who go to study in Canada on many occasions get transferred from one college to another. This usually happens only when students do not like studies in a college and they are getting more opportunities in other colleges. However, now it is going to be difficult for them to get transfer from college or university to another institution. The main reason for this is that the government has brought new transfer rules, which are much more stringent.
In fact, to transfer from one college or university to another in Canada, international students will have to apply afresh for a study permit. The Government of Canada has brought these rules so that the ‘International Student Program’ (ISP) can be made even stronger. This will ensure that all students follow the correct rules while studying in Canada. The government wants that no student should misuse the study permit.

Educational institutions must maintain the dignity of ISP: Mark Miller

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) Minister Mark Miller emphasized maintaining the dignity of the ISP program. he/she said, “We want all institutions to join us in maintaining the dignity of the international student program. International students should have a positive and successful experience in Canada and these important changes made today will help in this.” Canada has been struggling with the problem of illegal work through students for a long time.

Educational institutions will have to provide information about students

‘Designated Learning Institutions’ (DLIs) will play an important role in monitoring students. DLIs are those institutions which are allowed to give admission to foreign students. Since 2015, IRCC has been working with DLIs to strengthen the reporting process. According to the new rules, if a DLI does not send the report on time or does not verify the admission letter, then it can be stopped from giving admission to new students for one year.

DLIs must report to IRCC twice a year. In this they will have to tell how many students studying there have valid study permits. If any student is no longer studying in that college then he/she/she will be investigated. At the same time, action can also be taken against him/her, because his/her not attending the class will be considered as a violation of the study permit rules. Quebec’s DLIs have not yet been included in the reporting system, but they will be given some time to prepare.
