Immigration backlog is increasing in Canada, Indians may face delay in getting study permit and work visa.

Canada Immigration Backlog Impact: Canada has long been considered the best country for Indian students and workers. The main reason for this is that students easily get admission in Canadian universities. Similarly, Indian workers are also easily able to get jobs in Canada. However, after the diplomatic dispute with India, the picture has completely changed. Due to India-Canada tension, the immigration backlog is continuously increasing at a fast pace.
Indians are facing a lot of difficulties due to increasing immigration backlog. Canada’s immigration backlog through November 2024 has reached unprecedented levels. Latest figures show that around 25 lakh applications are under processing. Of these, about 11 lakh applications are taking more time than the normal processing time. The immigration backlog is caused by a number of factors, including increased demand, staff shortages and global events that are impacting processing capacity.

Impact of immigration backlog on Indians

The situation is more worrying for Indian applicants. India is the largest source of foreign citizens coming to Canada. Every year lakhs of people are going to Canada from here. Because of this, maximum number of applications are being made for visa. However, diplomatic tensions between Canada and India have further extended the delay. The shortage of Canadian diplomatic staff in India has led to longer processing times for Indian visas, affecting thousands of applicants.

Indians thinking of going to Canada have been greatly affected due to the immigration backlog. Long processing times mean applicants are taking longer to wait for decisions on their study permit, work visa and permanent residency applications. This uncertainty can spoil their study and job plans. Additionally, the diplomatic dispute between Canada and India has further compounded these challenges. The shortage of Canadian diplomatic staff in India has left many Indian applicants in a dilemma. They do not know when the decision on their applications will come.

Due to the current situation, not only are their future plans getting affected, but they are also facing mental stress. The studies of many students are also being affected and people are losing job opportunities. This uncertainty has created problems in his/her life.
