IMD Weather Forecast: From Delhi to Maharashtra, heavy rain alert for next five days, see how monsoon is progressing

New Delhi: The mood of the weather has changed in many states across the country including Delhi-NCR. There has been a slight relief from the scorching heat and heatwave that has been going on for several days and rain has also knocked at some places. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy thunderstorms and rain in some states for the next five days. According to the IMD, in the next five days, due to strong winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal and the cyclone forming over Northeast Assam, the weather is likely to remain affected in the northeastern states. Due to this, light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning and wind at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, areas near the mountains of West Bengal and Sikkim for the next five days. At the same time, the weather will also remain cool in Delhi-NCR for the next two days.

Rain alert in these areas for next five days

According to the Meteorological Department, Assam, Meghalaya, areas near the hills of West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy rains at some places during June 6 to 10. Arunachal Pradesh may receive heavy rains during June 8 to 10 and Nagaland on June 10. In the coming five days, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka are also expected to receive light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, lightning and winds at a speed of 40-50 kmph. Similar weather is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe during June 6 to 8.

Apart from the northeastern states, heavy rains are also expected in other parts of the country in the coming days. Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra may receive heavy rains at isolated places during June 6 to 10, while Marathwada is expected to witness similar conditions during June 6 to 8. Heavy rains may occur over interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe from June 6 to 9, coastal Karnataka on June 8, 9 and 10, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on June 6 and 7, coastal Andhra Pradesh on June 6, 9 and 10, Telangana on June 6 and 10 and Rayalaseema on June 6 and 7.

Storm and rain from Bihar to Madhya Pradesh

The effect of the cyclone over northwest Madhya Pradesh may cause light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph in some areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal in the next two to three days. Similar weather is expected in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh for the next four to five days. Hailstorms and gusty winds of 50-60 kmph are likely at some places in West Madhya Pradesh during June 6 to 8. Strong winds of 25-35 kmph are expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the next five days. Heavy rains are likely at some places in Odisha during June 6 to 8 and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on June 9 and 10.

Western disturbance will affect Delhi-NCR

Western disturbance is affecting the northwestern plains due to cyclone in the north of Pakistan and change in winds. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning and winds at the speed of 40-50 kmph in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on June 6 and 7. Rainfall may be heavy in some of these places. Hailstorm may occur at some places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on June 6. Light rain with thunder, lightning and winds at the speed of 40-50 kmph is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on June 6 and 7. Dust storm is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on June 6, while dust storm may occur in Rajasthan on June 6 and 7. Hailstorm is very likely at some places in western Rajasthan on June 7.
