According to the USCBP, 1,49,000 Indians were detained for attempting to enter the US illegally between February 2019 and March 2023. Most of these people were from Gujarat and Punjab. At the same time, according to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, more than 7,25,000 Indians are living illegally in the US.
