If the dark spot of Kolkata hospital was sealed, the doctor would not have been brutalised, there are 11 CCTV cameras for every 1000 people in the country…how is there security?

New Delhi: After the Supreme Court’s rebuke in the Kolkata doctor case, Mamata Banerjee’s government of West Bengal suspended three police officers. It is being said that the doctor, after working the whole day, had dinner with her colleagues in the seminar hall of the hospital which was lying unused at night and after everyone left, she started resting there due to tiredness. At that time, the accused, drunk, entered the hospital from the back door and attacked the doctor when he/she got the chance. he/she crossed all limits of brutality and raped the doctor and then killed her. The lifeless body of the doctor lay there the whole night. The next day, when the cleaner went there in the morning, he/she saw the dead body of the doctor. The big question that is being raised in this case is that why the dark spot of RG Kar Medical Hospital was left like this. Is this the condition of the whole country? It is also being said that why have we not become alert even after the Nirbhaya gang rape in December 2012? Why were security measures not taken at places like hospitals, schools and at deserted areas or turns of streets and neighborhoods? Why were CCTV cameras or lights not installed? Let’s know the answers to all the questions.

The seminar hall of the hospital had become a dark spot, due to negligence of the hospital

Doctors say that the seminar hall of the hospital where this heinous crime was committed should have been sealed. Doctors said why was the seminar hall of the hospital not sealed? Doctors say that the reason given for keeping the seminar hall open is that repair work was to be done there. But, the repair work was to be done in the room next to the seminar hall. There was no CCTV camera inside the seminar hall. This is a kind of negligence. In fact, on August 9, the body of a female resident doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital.

In the Kolkata doctor case, CJI’s sharp questions will definitely hurt Mamata Banerjee, what should she not have done?

It is important to know what crime hotspots or dark spots are

Advocate Shivaji Shukla in Delhi says that crime hotspots or dark spots are those areas where the chances of crime are the highest. Police identify such areas in almost every police station area. With the help of researchers and analysts, a map is made and such areas are identified where the chances of crime are the highest. Going to such places is inviting danger. Passing through such deserted areas or turns or culverts is not free from danger.

Understand from crime pattern theory, why people commit crimes in a particular area

According to the crime pattern theory, no crime is accidental. It is either planned or situational. According to this theory, a crime occurs when the activities of the victim and the offender coincide at a particular place. A person’s activity space includes places of everyday life. Such as home, workplace, school, market, shopping complex, etc. When a person passes through a deserted path to reach these places, it is called nodes.

The criminals’ morale also gets boosted by the opportunity to commit crime

According to the crime pattern theory, a crime will occur only when an area provides an opportunity for crime and it should be in the area where the criminal commits crimes. For example, car theft and purse snatching, pickpocketing and chain snatching are most likely to occur near a shopping mall or market because there are ample opportunities for such crimes in that area.

How do criminals make someone their victim, what is their pattern

Professor of Psychology Akhilendra says that criminals usually do not work alone. They also involve their family or friends in this work. They create a network for crime. Any criminal commits a crime alone only when he/she gets a triggering event. That is, he/she gets such an opportunity. Because the mentality of such people is of criminal nature. When such opportunities arise for them, they commit a crime. The same must have happened in the Kolkata case as well. When the criminal came to the seminar hall, he/she was drunk and finding the doctor alone in the deserted place, his/her brutality arose. he/she committed the crime.

Who gave the crime pattern theory and what does it mean

Canadian environmental criminologists Pat and Paul Brantingham developed the Crime Pattern Theory between 1981 and 1993. According to this, any criminal first looks for a motive in his/her daily life. he/she commits a crime within about 1 or 2 miles from home. For this, he/she often chooses the time and place of the crime.

Britain’s police has used it successfully

Britain’s West Midlands Police has successfully used the crime pattern theory. After evaluating 2,58,074 criminal incidents in 2 years, the police found out which places have the most crimes and at what distance. The most interesting thing that came to light was that most criminals commit crimes within a radius of about 1 kilometer from their home. This helped the police to control crime.

Does the doctor’s killer have a predator personality?

Advocate Shivaji Shukla in Delhi says that I have also come across many cases of rape and murder, which were similar to the Kolkata case. People who commit such crimes have a predator personality. They are good looking and mix with the common people so much that they are not easily identified. However, their personality is bipolar. They ambush their prey in the dark and do their recce. When they get a chance, they kill them after satisfying their lust.
