If one is safe, how the atmosphere changed in favor of BJP after the Lok Sabha defeat, know the inside story.

New Delhi : After the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP changed its strategy in Maharashtra. Due to polarization of Muslim votes, BJP had to face defeat on many seats. Due to this, PM Modi gave the slogan ‘If we are one then we are safe’. Its objective was to unite Hindu voters. The purpose of this slogan was to convince Hindu voters that BJP was the only path to their security and progress. Along with this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave the slogan ‘Bantenge to Katenge’.

What was BJP’s strategy in Maharashtra?

The objective of both these slogans of BJP was to strengthen the Hindu vote bank. This step of BJP was taken after the appeal by Muslim religious leaders to vote for Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). Sajjad Nomani, member of National Ulema Council, Maharashtra and All India Muslim Personal Law Board, raised demands like quota for Muslims in government contracts and priority in recruitment in police forces.

After the defeat in Maharashtra, Congress is on the back foot, every move of Rahul failed, will its claim in India be weak?

Muslim polarization vs Hindu unity

BJP described these demands as anti-Hindu and called for Hindu unity. During the election campaign, the BJP called for unity to safeguard cultural and national unity. PM Modi repeated the slogan ‘If we are together we are safe’ in many rallies. RSS also supported this campaign of BJP. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat called for Hindu unity in his/her annual Dussehra speech.

BJP also got support from RSS

Mohan Bhagwat urged to learn a lesson from the attacks on Hindu community in Bangladesh. Senior Sangh official Dattatreya Hosabale also used the slogan ‘Bantege to Katenge’. Thus, BJP adopted the strategy of consolidating Hindu votes in response to Muslim polarization in Maharashtra. Its effect was clearly visible in the results of Maharashtra. This time BJP was successful in registering a bumper victory. Mahayuti alliance has got 230 seats.

This is how the opposition camp got scared

The special thing about this time’s election results is that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi got defeated on all four counts. No party could get enough seats to become the main opposition party. Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has got 20 seats. Congress has got 16 seats and Sharad Pawar faction’s NCP has got 10 seats. On the other hand, BJP has got 132 seats, Shinde group’s Shiv Sena has got 57 seats and Ajit Pawar’s NCP has got 41 seats. In this way, the ruling party gave a crushing defeat to the opposition alliance in this electoral battle.
