The average age of soldiers was raising concerns
While talking about reforms in the defence sector, Modi said that the armed forces have taken many bold decisions in the past years. An example of this is the Agneepath scheme. he/she said that for decades, discussions were held in many committees in the Parliament on making the army young, the average age of the soldiers being higher than the global average kept increasing our concern, but the country did not show the will to solve this security challenge. he/she said that perhaps the mentality of some people was such that the army means saluting the leaders. For us, the army means the faith of 140 crore countrymen, the army means the guarantee of peace of 140 crore countrymen, the guarantee of security to the borders of the country. he/she said that some people are doing politics of lies for their personal interests even on the reform of the army. These are the same people who weakened our forces by committing scams worth thousands of crores in the forces. These are the same people who wanted that the Air Force should never get modern fighters, the truth is that the strength of the country will increase with the Agneepath scheme.
PM said, when the time will come to give pension, I will be 105 years old
Taking a jibe, the PM said that I am surprised what has happened to the understanding of some people, they are spreading such a misconception that the government has brought the Agneepath scheme to save pension money. Modi said that I am ashamed of the thinking of such people but I want to ask that someone should tell me whether the person who is recruited today in Modi’s regime will have to be given pension today itself, the time to give pension will come after 30 years and by then Modi will be 105 years old, will Modi’s government be there then, is Modi such a politician that Modi will be abused for this today.
PM said Agnipath scheme is the decision of the armed forces
PM said that for me, country is more important than party. he/she said that I want to say with pride that we have respected the decision taken by the army. We work for national policy and not for politics. For us, national security is more important. Targeting Congress, he/she said that the history of those who are misleading the youth of the country is a witness that they do not care about the soldiers. These are the same people who lied on One Rank One Pension by showing a meagre amount of Rs. 500 crore. It is our government which implemented One Rank One Pension and gave more than Rs. 1.25 lakh crore to the ex-servicemen. Modi said that these are the same people who did not build a war memorial for our martyrs even after seven decades of independence, despite the demand of the army, despite the demand of the families of the brave soldiers of the country, kept postponing it, kept forming committees. These are the same people who did not even provide adequate bullet proof jackets to our soldiers deployed on the border.
We do not celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas
Targeting the Congress, the PM said that they are the same people who keep ignoring even the Kargil Vijay Diwas. It is the people’s blessing that I got the opportunity to form the government for the third time. That is why today we are able to remember this important historical event. Otherwise, if they had come, they would not have remembered this war victory.
