New Delhi. Veteran captain Ricky Ponting, who made Australia the world champion under his/her captaincy, wants to coach the team again in IPL. Ponting’s contract with Delhi Capitals ended recently. he/she was with Delhi Capitals for seven years. Last month, Delhi Capitals decided to remove Ponting from the post of head coach. Ponting says that Delhi Capitals is eyeing an Indian coach.

Ricky Ponting had to part ways with the Delhi Capitals as he/she could not win a single title during his/her tenure. However, he/she is ready to join any team again. Ponting said, ‘I would love to coach in the IPL again. I had a great time every year after joining the IPL, whether it was the initial days as a player or the time spent as the coach of Mumbai for two years.’

Spent 7 seasons with Delhi Capitals
Ponting said in the ICC podcast, ‘I have spent seven seasons with the Delhi team. During this time we unfortunately did not work the way I wanted and certainly not the way the franchise would have wanted. I was trying to get the team the title and it did not happen.’ Ponting said that Delhi Capitals may be looking for a player who can give more time to the franchise even after the season.

Ponting will not join the England team
According to Ponting, ‘This franchise is trying to make an Indian the head coach. They are looking for a coach who can give them time even after the season.’ There were reports that Ricky Ponting could be made the coach of white ball cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board, but this Australian legend has completely rejected it. When Ponting was asked about joining the England team, he/she said that he/she would not consider it.
