New Delhi : The proceedings of the Lok Sabha remained tumultuous on Friday as well. Opposition parties including the Congress remained adamant on the demand for a discussion on the NEET issue. At the same time, the Lok Sabha Speaker told the members of the opposition parties that they can discuss all the issues related to the President’s address. During this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke about turning off the mike. The Speaker clearly stated his/her point on Rahul’s question.

“There are no buttons here”

The speaker told Rahul Gandhi that I do not switch off the mic, I had made arrangements for it earlier also. The speaker said that there is no button here. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said during this time that we wanted to give a joint message to the students of India on behalf of the government and the opposition that we consider their issue important. Therefore, we wanted to have a special discussion on the issue of NEET to show respect to the students. The Lok Sabha Speaker did not allow this and the opposition members kept creating a ruckus. Due to the ruckus, the meeting of the House was adjourned till 11 am on Monday.

Rahul met Birla

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met the Speaker of the House Om Birla. Rahul objected to Birla’s mention of Emergency inside the House, saying that this move was political and could have been avoided. Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal gave information in this regard after a meeting in Parliament House.

Rahul raised the issue of emergency

Venugopal said that it was a courtesy meeting. During this, Gandhi also raised the issue of the Speaker mentioning the Emergency in the House. he/she said that it was a courtesy meeting. The Lok Sabha Speaker declared Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition. After that Rahul Gandhi met the Speaker along with the leaders of the alliance partners. The Congress leader said that Rahul, as the Leader of the Opposition, informed the Speaker about the issue.

This was Gandhi’s first meeting with the Speaker after taking over as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. he/she was accompanied by Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav, DMK’s Kanimozhi, Nationalist Congress Party’s (SP) Supriya Sule and Trinamool Congress’ Kalyan Banerjee, besides others.
