I did not go to kill time… Kohli said after scoring a century after 16 months


New Delhi. Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century in the second innings of the first Test match against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. he/she also broke Australian legend Sir Don Bradman’s record of 29 centuries. Thanks to Virat’s brilliant century, India declared its second innings at 487 runs for 6 wickets. Virat scored an unbeaten century in 143 balls. Kohli batted fluently with a brilliant mix of patience and attack and completed his/her 30th century in the traditional format, surpassing the record of great batsman Sir Don Bradman.

Kohli, who was on the decline in his/her career, scored unbeaten 100 runs with the help of eight fours and two sixes in 143 balls at the Optus Stadium. he/she had to wait for about 16 months and 15 Test innings for this century. he/she scored 121 runs against West Indies at Port of Spain in July 2023. With this century, Kohli refreshed the memories of the brilliant innings of 123 runs played in this city in 2018. After his/her unbeaten century, Kohli said that he/she wanted to contribute to the betterment of the team.

‘I just wanted to contribute to the interest of the team’
Kohli told former Australian great Adam Gilchrist, speaking on behalf of the broadcasters, ‘When you don’t play well, a lot is going on in your mind. You make some mistakes after spending time at the crease. I just wanted to contribute to the welfare of the team, I didn’t want to stay at the crease just to pass time. he/she completed his/her century with fours on a sweep shot against Marnus Labuschagne. he/she became the fourth Indian player to complete 30 centuries in Test cricket after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
