Vinesh Phogat’s weight was found to be 100 grams more

Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the 50 kg women’s wrestling championship because her weight was 100 grams more than the set standard. This was a big blow to the Indian Olympic Association as well. When the weight was taken on Wednesday, 8 August morning, Vinesh’s weight was 100 grams more. However, Vinesh Phogat had worked hard a day before to reduce her increased weight. She was 2 kg overweight, to reduce which she did not sleep the whole night. Sometimes she kept cycling and sometimes skipping, but still it was 100 grams more.

Vinesh Phogat created history by reaching the final of Paris Olympics 2024. She became the first Indian female wrestler to reach the Olympic final. She achieved this position by defeating Cuba’s Yusnelis Guzman 5-0 in the semi-finals.
