‘I am retiring…’ Aamir Khan distanced himself from films, gave all the responsibility to his/her son!

Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan entered the world of acting with the film ‘Maharaj’. This film was released on the OTT platform Netflix and Junaid’s work was highly appreciated. Junaid recently told that Aamir Khan was going through retirement and he/she gave him/her the responsibility of handling ‘Aamir Khan Productions’. Junaid is now producing the film ‘Preetam Pyaar’ being made under this production house.

Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan was asked about his/her decision to try his/her hand at production so early in his/her acting career. In an interview to our affiliate Times of India, he/she said, “Yes, I have done that. I have been behind the camera on film sets and on the sets of ‘PK’. I have also helped with ad shoots. After we finished shooting for ‘Maharaj’, we were working on a film at ‘AKP’ (Aamir Khan Productions). At that time Kiran (Rao) was making ‘Missing Ladies’ and dad was going through this whole ‘I am going to retire’ phase and he/she had talked about it (smiles). he/she said to me, ‘I am retiring, why don’t you take over.’ So that was the phase when I stepped in. I think I have a good understanding of production. It is probably one of the toughest jobs in filmmaking.”

Aamir and Reena were not worried about Junaid’s debut

Junaid is very close to his/her parents Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta. When asked if they were nervous or worried about his/her debut, he/she said, “Not really (laughs). They were not worried, they were happy for me. They are not generally anxious people because they have been through all this and more (being a part of the industry for so long). The fact that they were not worried helped me with everything that was going on with the film. Both of them loved it. Dad loved it. he/she is an easy audience because when he/she goes to watch something, he/she wants to enjoy it. My mother is a difficult audience.”

Junaid also revealed that Aamir Khan never came to his/her set or interfered in his/her debut film. he/she said, ‘he/she never came to our set. he/she just came with my three grandparents on the first day of shooting and then he/she directly watched the film.’

‘Aamir also did many bad projects’

Junaid said that Aamir’s work has no effect on his/her choice of films because the superstar has done great work but has also done some projects that were not good. he/she has learnt that one should keep learning and moving forward because filmmaking is not a science.
