How UP’s pacer surpassed Mukesh-Avesh, Arshdeep-Khalil, got a surprise entry in Team India

New Delhi. When the Indian cricket team was announced for the Test series against Bangladesh, a surprising name surprised everyone. Yash Dayal’s name is also included in this team. The same Yash Dayal who first came into the limelight because of Rinku Singh’s 5 sixes. But a lot of water has flown down the Ganges since then. This player has left behind players like Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan and Khalil Ahmed to make a place in Team India. A 2 match series is to be played between India and Bangladesh. The first Test match will start from September 19. The selectors have announced the team for only one match right now.

Most of the Indian players have played only one first class match in the last 6 months. Duleep Trophy started on 5th September. The match between India C and India D ended on Saturday. A day later, the result of the match between India A and India B came. Immediately after this match, the Indian selectors announced Team India. It is clear that the selectors have given importance to the performance in Duleep Trophy.

The selectors have selected 4 pacers in the Indian team. Out of these, two pacers Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have been selected on the basis of their past performance. The remaining two pacers have got a place on the basis of their performance in the Duleep Trophy. For example, Akash Deep took 9 wickets while playing for India A. he/she dismissed 4 batsmen in the first innings and 5 in the second innings. There is no doubt that Akash Deep had the best performance in the Duleep Trophy and he/she was selected in Team India.

Yash Dayal, who played for India B, took 4 wickets against India A. he/she dismissed Riyan Parag in the first innings. After this, he/she took the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel in the second innings. Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini of his/her own team took 5-5 wickets in this match. Navdeep Saini also played an invaluable innings of 56 runs. Then why did both of them lag behind Yash Dayal, this question is being asked by many cricket fans.

The answer is clear. Indian selectors would have wanted to keep a left-arm pacer in the team. For this, they had three options – Khaleel Ahmed, Yash Dayal and Arshdeep Singh. Khaleel Ahmed took one wicket more than Yash Dayal in the match, but Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini’s partnership failed against him/her. Musheer and Saini had a 205-run partnership for the 8th wicket, which Khaleel Ahmed, Akash Deep and Avesh Khan could not break. Akash Deep hid this failure to a great extent by taking 9 wickets in the match, but Khaleel could not do so. Arshdeep Singh, who came from India D, could take only two wickets in the match.

When 5 consecutive sixes were hit in one over
Yash Dayal, born in Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, came into the limelight after conceding 5 consecutive sixes in an over in IPL 2023. After this poor performance, Gujarat Titans dropped him/her from the team. After this, Royal Challengers Bangalore included Yash Dayal in their team. Yash Dayal bowled well for RCB in IPL 2024.

Indian Squad (for first Test): Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Jaspreet Bumrah and Yash Dayal.
