How to study in US?
To get admission in American universities after 12th, students have to prepare a lot. First of all they have to give some important exams, the scores of which are necessary for admission. Indian students taking admission in undergraduate courses first have to give TOEFL or IELTS exam, through which they prove that they have good command over the English language. In America, education is imparted in English, which is why it is very important to know this language.
The second most important test after the English test is SAT or ACT. ‘Scholastic Assessment Test’ i.e. SAT score is used to find out whether a student is ready for college studies. This test includes reading and writing and math test. Similarly, there is ‘American College Testing’ i.e. ACT, in which students have to give tests of sections like English, Math, Reading, Science and Writing. Giving one of these two tests is necessary for admission.
At the same time, before applying to universities, you should have all the academic records like report cards etc. For admission, there should also be a Statement of Purpose (you have to explain why you want to study this course), at least two letters of recommendation, resume, portfolio. When you have all the test scores and required documents, you can apply for admission. Admission officers will scrutinize your application and if found eligible, you will be admitted.
You will be given an admission letter by the university. This is an important document, because only on the basis of it you will be able to apply for F-1 visa i.e. student visa of America. First you have to apply for a visa, then you will be interviewed at the US Embassy. After passing this interview you can get student visa. After this you can fly to America to study.
