The BCCI Income Tax Act is claiming tax exemption from the central government under Section 11 of 1961. However, the department has clearly refused to give exemption to BCCI. Currently, this matter is under consideration in court. Section-11 gives exemption for income received from the property kept under the trust for religious purposes.

How much GST did BCCI give?
The BCCI is an autonomous institution that is registered under the Tamil Nadu Society Registration Act 1975. Last year, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in Parliament had said in a written reply that BCCI is charged at the rate of 28 percent on services like Indian Premier League. The GST revenue collection from BCCI during the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 was Rs 2,038.55 crore. It was told that the BCCI does not get any kind of grant from the Sports Ministry of the Central Government.
