How did Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Save Constitution’ narrative weaken Modi’s power? Understand this

New Delhi : The results of the Lok Sabha elections have shocked the entire country. These results are completely different from the exit poll predictions. This result can be attributed to the opposition’s ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ or ‘Save the Constitution’ election campaign. It suppressed a series of common issues. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis blamed the opposition’s ‘BJP will change the constitution’ campaign for the defeat of NDA candidates in many seats.

Fadnavis held him/her responsible

Fadnavis tweeted that the unfortunate outcome of the election result is that the opposition tried to win seats by campaigning that we will change the Constitution. But the mandate of the people in the elections has to be accepted as it is. We will do deep introspection and compensate for our defeat in the next assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi had cleverly argued in his/her election campaign that if the BJP wins more than 400 seats, they will amend the Constitution to abolish reservation.

BJP had retaliated

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s narrative, the BJP had launched a counter-attack. The BJP accused the Congress and its allies of weakening the Constitution by proposing reservation for Muslims while saying religion-based quotas are unconstitutional. Prime Minister Modi had challenged Rahul Gandhi, who often dramatically displays a copy of the Constitution at his/her rallies, to give an undertaking in writing that the Congress would never attempt to implement a Muslim quota. As this heated debate continued, the Constitution became a central issue.

Important topics after 1977

There was so much debate on the issue that for the first time since the 1977 election, which had become a referendum on Indira Gandhi’s suspension of democracy in the North, the Constitution was a key issue in the election. After the results were announced, Rahul Gandhi again raised the slogan ‘Save the Constitution’ in his/her victory speech. The Congress leader said that the people of India have saved the Constitution and democracy. The deprived and poor population of the country stands with India to protect their rights. Congratulations to all the alliance partners and the lion-like workers of the Congress party.

The only community behind the power of SP in UP and TMC in Bengal is Muslims, know why

Modi will become PM for the third time

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term. However, the BJP will have to rely on the support of other parties in its alliance – JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. The BJP has fallen short of the majority mark of 272 by 32 seats in this election. This is a stunning setback for the BJP as well as the PM. PM Modi had given the slogan ‘Abki baar, 400 paar’. For the first time, since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014, it has not secured a majority on its own. This time the BJP has secured 63 seats less than the record 303 it won in the 2019 election.
