Fill the Application Form: First of all you have to go to the website of Passport Seva and login. After this you have to select Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport. Then select your state and district where you have to submit the application. Select Reissue of Passport and then choose either Normal or Tatkal option. Here you also have to select the booklet type (36 pages/60 pages). Give the reason for renewing the passport and give the necessary information. Finally after making payment select PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) and book appointment.

Go to Passport Seva Kendra: After applying for passport renewal, you will have to go to the Passport Seva Kendra on the day of the appointment. Before going here, print the application form, payment slip and necessary documents and take them with you. Show your application form at the Passport Seva Kendra. Here the officials will click your photo, take biometric information and then your documents will be verified. If everything is found correct, your file will be processed further.

Police Verification: Your police verification will be done after all the documents are verified from the Passport Seva Kendra. The police will check to see if any criminal case is pending against you. Police verification is the most important step, where after the file is cleared, your chances of getting your passport increase. Your passport will arrive at your given address in three to eight weeks.

Fill the form and submit the documents: Fill out the VFS order form and collect the required documents. These may include proof of employment and residence. Some documents may need to be notarized.

Pay renewal fees: These fees vary from country to country and are usually paid in cash at VFS centres. The time taken for passport renewal may vary depending on the location. This usually takes three to eight weeks.
