Homes in Canada become ‘shortage’! 55% of the students accepted- difficulty in finding a shelter to live

Canada Housing Crisis: The number of foreign students is being cut in Canada. The Canadian government is running at this footsteps since last year. Because of this, foreign students including Indians are disillusioned with Canada. However, a survey report has been released amidst all these controversies, in which the conditions of the students studying in Canada have been told. It has been told how the students are having trouble finding the house and they have to fall prey to discrimination.
A new survey by Thompson Reverse University (Tru) has shown that more than 55% of foreign students are having trouble finding a place to live. This problem has been increased in the last few years. The government has recently changed the immigration policies. Due to this, undergraduate admission will be reduced by 35% in 2024 and 10% in 2025. These changes have been made so that the number of permits for foreign students can be limited. This has further increased the difficulties of the students.

Discrimination is being done with Indians to give home

Tru’s survey report shows that there is a shortage of houses on one side, as well as students are also facing racial discrimination. Especially many students from countries like India and China said that they have to face racism in finding a rented house. A student from ‘The Conversation’ told that he/she was having problems with roommate, about which he/she talked to the landlord about the lease. On this, the landlord even threatened the student to cancel his/her student visa.

It is not that foreign students are only facing the shortage of homes, but the crisis of money has also become a matter of great concern for them. Nearly one -third of the students expressed concern about their economic situation. he/she said that he/she is not getting enough financial help. It is becoming difficult to bear the cost of staying in the increasing fare market.

What is the solution to the problem in Canada?

Tru’s study states that universities need to take necessary steps, so that these challenges can be faced. It suggests that the number of scholarships should be increased to help the students, especially for students who come from the exploited groups. Programs should be run to help foreign students. Emphasis has also been laid on promoting cultural understanding between domestic and foreign students.
