New Delhi : Two more battalions (1025 soldiers in one battalion) will be added to the CISF fleet that protects more than 350 institutions of the country, including Parliament, Delhi Metro, Airport and Nuclear Plants. Approval for this was received from the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday. After these two battalions, CISF, which started with about three thousand soldiers on March 10, 1969, will become a force of about two lakh soldiers. Earlier last year, approval was given from the Home Ministry to create the first women battalion for CISF.

CISF expansion approved

CISF spokesperson Ajay Dahiya said that with these two battalions, the number of battalions in CISF will increase from 13 to 15. New recruitment will begin on 2050 posts in the force in the form of formation of two new battalions. From recruitment of soldiers to training and completing all other formalities, both these battalions will start providing their services for CISF by the end of this year. That’s why the Home Ministry took steps

Officials said that in reality, there was a shortage of soldiers in the force in view of the requirement of soldiers in many other institutions including Parliament, election duty, natural disaster and many other works. To accomplish this, a proposal regarding new recruitments was sent to the Home Ministry. Which was given green signal on Tuesday.

Soldiers will be able to avoid cancellation of holidays

With these new recruitments, CISF jawans will be able to avoid situations like cancellation of their leave including weekly off during emergency duty to a great extent. Be it elections, deteriorating law and order situation or any other emergency duty, CISF personnel are required along with other forces. With the increase in the number of soldiers in the force, their leaves will be canceled less. This will also reduce the mental stress of the soldiers and they will be able to perform duty with full energy.
