High-tech warships, radars, next-generation tanks… India has a big plan to compete with China, the strength of the army and navy will increase

New Delhi: Amid rising tensions with China, the Defense Ministry has taken a big decision to make the Indian Army and Navy more powerful. The Defense Ministry has approved projects costing more than Rs 1 lakh 44 thousand crore. These include the construction of seven high-tech warships for the Indian Navy. At the same time, a proposal has also been made to replace the old T-72 tanks of the Indian Army with modern Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCV). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh An important meeting was held in South Block on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Chief of Defense Staff, the three Army Chiefs, Defense Secretary and other concerned officials participated in it.

10 proposals approved under the chairmanship of Rajnath Singh

The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday approved 10 proposals worth Rs 1,44,716 crore. The special thing is that 99 percent of this amount will be spent from indigenous sources. This decision will increase the strength of the Indian Army and the country will move towards self-reliance. DAC has approved the purchase of Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCV) to modernize the tank fleet of the Indian Army.

Approval for purchase of modern tanks and radars

Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCV) will be a state-of-the-art main battle tank. It will have the ability to go in all areas with better speed. It will be equipped with features like multi-layered security, precise strikes and lethal firing. Apart from this, the purchase of Air Defense Fire Control Radar has also been approved. This radar will detect and monitor aerial targets. It will also help in attacking the target.

Efforts to make the army stronger

The DAC has also approved the procurement of Forward Repair Team (Tracked), which will be equipped with cross country mobility suitable for on-the-spot repairs during mechanised operations. This equipment has been designed and developed by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited. It is registered for both mechanised infantry battalions and armoured regiments.

Next Generation Patrol Vessels approved

In this meeting, three proposals have also been approved to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). These include the purchase of Dornier-228 Flight, purchase of Next Generation Fast Patrol Vessels with special facilities in bad weather and purchase of Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels with advanced technology and long distance operational capability. All these will enhance the ability of ICG to carry out surveillance, patrolling in the maritime area, search and rescue as well as disaster relief operations.
