‘Here, no mother, father, money, only hard work matters…’ Jibran Khan revealed the secret of the industry

Jibran Khan, who has played the role of a child actor in films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Bade Dilwala, Rishtey, has now entered the silver screen as a hero himself. Jibran, who debuted with the film Ishq Vishk Rebound, is the son of Arjun of the classic serial Mahabharata, i.e. actor Firoz Khan. Read this special conversation with him/her:

Highlights

  • Jibran Khan told the real reason for his/her late debut in Bollywood
  • Gibran Khan said that everyone has their own journey, just keep working hard
  • he/she also told that it is important to be mentally strong in the film industry
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol’s darling in the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and Sunil Shetty’s sensible son in ‘Bade Dilwala’, Gibran Khan won hearts with his/her cuteness as a child actor. Now he/she has come on screen to woo people as a hero in the film ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’. However, despite being the son of Arjun of the superhit show ‘Mahabharat’ i.e. actor Firoz Khan, Gibran’s journey from child actor to hero was not easy.

‘If you are not mentally strong then you are in the wrong industry’

On the delay in debut despite being known to celebrities like Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, Jibran says, ‘Every actor has a journey. he/she may be an outsider or an insider and I am both. My father has also been an actor. Here it is important to have the right thing at the right time. I was an assistant in ‘Brahmastra’. Then I decided that I have to try my luck in acting. I gave look tests for many big films but did not get them. I was very disappointed by that but in our industry, no matter how disappointed you are, you cannot become weak. If you are not mentally strong then you are in the wrong industry because there is a lot of competition here.’

Gibran said- keep working hard, your time will come

‘Here you have to be mentally and physically strong all the time. You have to keep yourself ready that who knows when someone will call you and you will have to dance shirtless. Here parents, money are of no use. Just stay strong, keep working hard, one day your time will definitely come. This is what happened with me. Today I am 30 years old. I was tired of answering people that when will your film release? This one released, that one also released, why is yours not happening? What should I answer to this? But I had faith in myself that I have to become an actor. I have to become the biggest actor of this country. I want people to be happy after seeing my work that I do good work.’

Shahrukh did not treat me any different from his/her children

On his/her experience of working with Shah Rukh in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, Jibran says, ‘Shahrukh Khan is not an ordinary person, he/she is something else. I love him/her a lot. I consider him/her my idol, my inspiration because I have seen his/her hard work. I have done not only films with him/her but also ads and seeing his/her hard work I have learnt that without it nothing is achieved. At the same time, I have many fond memories of ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. We all were in London. his/her children Aryan, Suhana were also there but he/she never discriminated between us. he/she treated us all equally. If a football was bought for one child, it was bought for all the children. It seemed as if he/she was a member of our family. Even today when I meet him/her, he/she meets me with the same love that hey, when did you grow up so much? I want to work with him/her again.’

Even today people touch Papa’s feet

Talking about what he/she learned from his/her father Feroz Khan, Jibran said, ‘According to me, he/she is the best actor in the country, I understood this when I watched Mahabharat again during the lockdown. Earlier, when I was a child, I didn’t understand much. When I watched Mahabharat during the lockdown, I understood why people touch his/her feet even today? They know him/her by the name of Arjun, not by his/her real name. Then I felt that such a great artist is sitting in my house and I did not even realize it. That happens, we undervalue our loved ones a bit, but during the film, I was stuck in a scene as to how to do it, so I shared this with him/her and the advice he/she gave was very helpful to me. That day, I understood that a father is a father.’
