‘Headache’ increased amid US Presidential elections, such a report came about Trump, which increased the tension of Indians!

US Presidential Election: Amidst the presidential elections being held in America, a report has come out, which is related to the immigration taking place in the country. Investment banking firm JM Financial has released a report, which says that the outcome of the presidential elections in America is going to have a big impact on job-based immigration. Especially its impact is going to be most visible on H-1B visa. H-1B visa is very popular among Indians.
The report says that if Donald Trump becomes president again, the strict policies of his/her previous government can be re-implemented. Due to these policies, the scrutiny and rejection rates for H-1B and L-1 visas will increase. H-1B visa is given to those who have specialized skills. Most of the people working in the IT sector go to America with this visa. Through L-1 visa, American companies invite people from their offices abroad to the US.

Trump had imposed visa ban in his/her first term

During Donald Trump’s first term, initial rejections for H-1B visas increased from 4% to 17%. Whereas the rejection rate of L-1 visa had increased from 12% to 28%. Something similar may be seen once again. This will hit the IT service companies the most, which hire people through these visas. The report said that in his/her first term, Trump extended the ban on H-1B visas through Executive Order EO13788 ‘Buy American and Hire American’.

Dependence of companies reduced on H-1B visa

However, things have changed a lot after Trump’s first term. Many IT service companies have now significantly reduced their dependence on H-1B visas. It is estimated that in recent years the proportion of employees dependent on visas has decreased from 65% to 50%. The benefit of this change is that now these companies do not have to face rejection rates. This is because now these companies have become dependent on the employees present in America.

During his/her previous tenure, Donald Trump had attempted to implement policies that would have increased the minimum salary required to obtain an H-1B visa. In simple language, H-1B visa was to be given only if there was a specific amount of salary. However, then the court put a stay on this decision. The report says that if Trump becomes president again, such rules can be brought back.
