New Delhi: PM Modi has always surprised everyone with his/her decisions. One such surprise element was seen in the picture of Modi government’s cabinet which was released on Sunday. Many faces were surprisingly included in PM Modi and BJP’s Modi 3.0 government. Two such faces were also included who had lost the Lok Sabha elections. The most surprising names are believed to be BJP candidate from Ludhiana, Punjab, Ravneet Singh Bittu and Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiri candidate L. Murugan.

Bittu, who left Congress, got a ministerial position
Former Punjab CM Beant Singh’s grandson Ravneet Singh Bittu left Congress and joined BJP just before the elections. he/she lost to Congress’ Amarinder Singh Raja Waring from Ludhiana. It is believed that despite losing, BJP has bet on a Jat Sikh face in Punjab keeping in mind the future politics. Bittu can prove to be helpful for BJP in farmer politics and Punjab. L. Murugan, who was a minister of state in the Modi government, lost to DMK’s A. Raja. In Tamil Nadu, BJP wants to give a message to the southern state by giving a chance to the former president again keeping in mind its Mission South.

Other surprising names include Satish Dubey from Bihar, Sanjay Seth and Annapurna Devi from Jharkhand, Kamlesh Paswan from UP, Srinivas Verma from Andhra Pradesh, Tokhan Sahu from Chhattisgarh, Suresh Gopi from Kerala, Harsh Malhotra from Delhi, Bhagirath Choudhary from Rajasthan and Savitri Thakur from Madhya Pradesh.


In Bihar, BJP has put forward Satish Dubey as a Brahmin face. Dubey, who has come from Rajya Sabha, is considered a leader of the new generation in the state. Sanjay Seth and Annapurna Devi have got a chance from Jharkhand. Seth is originally from UP, he/she has previously been a Rajya Sabha MP from SP. Seth, who won from Ranchi on a BJP ticket, has been rewarded by the party, while Annapurna Devi has been the national vice-president of BJP. She is believed to get a place from the women’s quota. The name of Kamlesh Paswan from UP also suddenly came up, who is a four-time MP. he/she is considered to be the fighting face of BJP. Srinivas Verma, who won from Andhra’s Narsapur seat, reached here rising from being a booth level worker of BJP. Tokhan Sahu, who became MP for the first time from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, joined the government directly after his/her first victory.

The journey from being a Panchayat representative to the cabinet is quite interesting. Gopi Suresh, who started his/her acting career as a child actor in films, opened the account of BJP which is looking for a foothold in Kerala, he/she won from Thrissur seat. Among them, the name of Harsh Malhotra, who won from East Delhi, is also surprising. In view of the assembly elections to be held in Delhi next year, BJP has given a chance to a leader with a clean image. By giving a place in the government to Bhagirath Chaudhary, who won from Ajmer in Rajasthan, the party has tried to woo the Jat community. While Savitri Thakur, who comes from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh, is a tribal face, who comes from an agricultural community.

The average age of the cabinet is 59 years
The average age of Modi Government 3.0 is 59 years. Last time this average age was 61 years, however in the cabinet expansion in 2021 it was reduced to 58 years. This time the oldest minister is 79-year-old Jitan Ram Manjhi, while the youngest are 36-year-old K Ram Mohan Naidu of TDP and 37-year-old Raksha Khadse of BJP. Including PM Narendra Modi, about a dozen faces in his/her government are 70 years or more.

Women and youth faces in the government
This time, a balance of youth and women was seen in the Modi government. However, women did not get much participation. About 15 of them are 50 years old or younger. Young faces include K Ram Mohan Naidu, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Savitri Thakur, Shantanu Thakur, L. Murugan, Kamlesh Paswan, Raksha Khadse, Satish Dubey, Rajbhushan Chaudhary Nishad, Jitin Prasad, Jayant Chaudhary, Chandrashekhar Pemmasamy, Chirag Paswan, Mansukh Mandaviya. Most of them are connected to the ground and have reached here through their hard work and struggle. About six women were able to make a place in the government, which is not even 10 percent of the total ministers. Among them, Nirmala Sitharaman, Shobha Karandlaje, Anupriya Patel have got a chance again. Three-time MP Raksha Khadse, Savitri Thakur and Annapurna Devi are prominent among those who became ministers in the government for the first time.
