Rohit Sharma became emotional after winning the T20 World Cup Virat Kohli gave a big statement about Rohit in the felicitation ceremony
Mumbai Star cricketer Virat Kohli made a revelation in front of a packed audience at the Wankhede Stadium during the team’s felicitation ceremony. Kohli said that he/she had never seen Indian captain Rohit Sharma so emotional in 15 years. he/she hugged him/her with teary eyes after the T20 World Cup victory. Kohli said during the felicitation ceremony held after the memorable ‘Victory Parade’ in an open bus, ‘This is the first time in 15 years that I have seen Rohit so emotional. When we were climbing the stairs (at Kensington Oval), he/she was crying and I was also crying.’
When Virat Kohli was 21 years old, he/she had said on this very ground that it is absolutely appropriate to carry the great Sachin Tendulkar, who has carried the burden of Indian cricket for 21 years, on his/her shoulders. Kohli (34 years old) announced his/her retirement from this short format of cricket after winning the trophy last week. Standing on this ground, he/she expressed hope that he/she and his/her captain have done well to shoulder the responsibility for 15 years and bring the trophy to the country.
Kohli said, ‘I think we (Rohit and I) have taken the responsibility and there is nothing better than bringing the trophy back here (Wankhede). After the match was half over, I knew that now the time has come that the next generation should take responsibility.’ In 2011, he/she was the youngest member of the team, he/she saw Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh getting emotional and perhaps he/she did not understand their being emotional. But now he/she can understand it very well. he/she said, ‘I could not understand the feelings of the senior players that night (after winning the 2011 World Cup) when they started crying but now I can understand them.’
