‘he/she is seeking recognition in a Hindu country’, people are calling Vikrant Massey a traitor, what did they say on India’s independence

Vikrant Massey was in controversy for touching his/her wife’s feet and now the actor is in trouble due to a politically incorrect statement. Recently, while promoting his/her new film, ‘The Sabarmati Report’, the actor made some comments about freedom of expression in India and called independence from British rule in 1947 the ‘so-called independence’. People did not seem happy with this statement on the internet. Vikrant Massey was talking with the journalist. On the podcast, when he/she talked about India’s modern history, the actor said, ‘We need to understand that we are a young nation. It has been 76-77 years since independence. After hundreds of years of oppression – from the Mughals, the Dutch, the French and the British, we got the so-called independence.’

People called traitor on ‘so-called’ freedom

The actor further said, ‘But was this really freedom? We were left with whatever they had left behind. I feel that at last Hindus have got a chance to demand their identity in their own country. We sometimes don’t pay attention to this concept of identity, this concept of emotion. Fighting the biggest war ever. All the decisions in our life are driven by emotions and how we feel.

People angry over Vikrant’s statement

Vikrant’s ‘so-called’ comment is being trolled a lot on the internet. After part of this statement was shared on social media, a man wrote – What has happened to him/her? Is he/she saying all this to promote the film? These should be kept an eye on even after release. One quipped and said – New historian. Some people even said a lot to Vikrant. One said – They feel that the freedom they got after the sacrifice of lakhs of people is so-called. Traitors like him/her are found only in India.

Comparison with Kangana Ranaut

Many people compared Vikrant’s statement with Kangana Ranaut’s earlier statement, who had said that India had achieved ‘real’ independence only in 2014.

‘The Sabarmati Report’

Directed by Ranjan Chandel, The Sabarmati Report stars Vikrant, Riddhi Dogra and Raashi Khanna. The film is touted to be a thriller based on the infamous Godhra train burning incident of February 2002, which sparked the Gujarat riots. This film is going to be released in theaters on November 15.
