Having crooked legs at the time of birth of the baby is not a reason for tension, if the mother does this then the legs will become straight

Some babies are born with crooked legs and it is natural for parents to worry. Bikaner’s gynecologist Dr. Shefali Dadhich has shared a video on her Instagram and told that one in 100 babies may have crooked legs at birth. This is called clubfoot and its treatment is also available.

The doctor said that due to the pressure of less water in the womb, the baby’s legs become crooked. Sometimes this can happen due to genetic reasons. Along with this, the doctor also said that whenever the mother feeds the baby in the first one and a half months, she should keep massaging the baby’s legs. This will straighten the legs automatically up to 80 percent.

and what is the treatment

The doctor said that if the feet do not get cured with this, then plaster is applied on the feet after the child is one month old. It has been seen that these feet get cured after five-six plasters. Apart from this, it can also be treated by doing surgery on three or four children out of 1000.

When does the treatment begin

When does the treatment begin

National Health Service According to the , treatment for clubfoot usually begins within 1 to 2 weeks of the baby’s birth. The main treatment, called the Ponseti method, involves manipulating and stretching your baby’s foot to gradually bring it into the correct position. A plaster cast is then applied to the foot.

This procedure is repeated every week for about 5 to 8 weeks. After the last cast is removed, most children need a minor operation to loosen the Achilles tendon located at the back of the heel.

Nearly all children with clubfoot are successfully treated. After treatment, most children can participate in normal activities. They will learn to walk at a normal age, enjoy physical activities, and be able to wear normal shoes.

Children who have only one leg affected may have a shorter leg length and a smaller foot size. This means your child may be a little less mobile than other children and may tire more easily.

what causes clubfoot

what causes clubfoot

ClevelandClinic According to the , researchers don’t know the exact causes of clubfoot. It may be due to genetics or the environment. Genetics include genes that help tell your child’s body how it should look, grow, and function. A problem with one or more genes (which are passed from parents to children) can cause clubfoot.

At the same time, factors such as drug use and smoking during pregnancy can increase the risk of congenital deformities like club foot.
