Haryana Election Results: Gujarat’s model in Haryana, know 5 reasons for BJP’s victory and Congress’s defeat

New Delhi: BJP is forming the government in Haryana for the third time. This is the first time that a government is going to be formed in the state for the third consecutive time. BJP has changed the voting pattern of the state. The results proved everything from exit polls to other political predictions completely wrong. There were some patterns and trends in this election, which can help in understanding the results.

Local issues dominate, national theme ineffective

Local issues remained dominant over national themes and the Congress’ election campaign narrative was based on national issues. Across the country, issues like Agniveer were raised by the Congress in Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat, because here from every house there is someone in the army, but these issues did not work. Congress, which had won 11 out of 14 seats last time, has suffered a loss this time and BJP has made a dent in Hooda’s stronghold. The results proved that local issues rather than national issues dominated.

factionalism caused harm

While BJP managed its internal fight, the Congress high command could not do much about the internal strife of the party. Apart from Bhupendra Singh Hooda, Shailaja and Surjewala simultaneously projecting themselves as CMs, the factionalism in ticket distribution harmed the party’s prospects in view of the electoral process. Its negative impact was clearly visible in ticket distribution.

Gujarat’s model in Haryana

It is true that there was an anti-incumbency atmosphere in the state against former BJP CM Manohar Lal Khattar, but to overcome this, BJP fielded Naib Saini as the CM and Khattar was also kept away from active and aggressive campaigning. Actually, BJP has already done a similar experiment in Gujarat which proved successful. BJP benefited from this experiment conducted in Haryana to remove the resentment generated by Khattar.

The slogan of no expenditure slip started

BJP was successful in proving through the election campaign that recruitment in government jobs was done in a transparent manner. Taking aim at the Hooda government in this matter, BJP said that during the BJP rule, people were getting jobs without any expenditure and without any slip. This could be one of the reasons for the youth’s attraction towards BJP.

Congress’s Jat vote divided, Dalit vote too

INLD-BSP, JJP and AAP made a dent in the core vote bank of Congress. Apart from this, Congress appeared vocal on issues related to Jats. In such a situation, BJP worked on the strategy of fielding non-Jat voters in front of the Jat community. This strategy harmed Congress in two ways. As the original vote bank also dispersed, other non-Jat castes also disappeared. At the same time, non-Jatav Dalit voters were also divided on the question of classification among Dalits.
