Haryana Assembly Elections: Confusion between Congress and BJP on the list of candidates, where is the problem?

New Delhi: The political temperature is high in Haryana regarding the assembly elections to be held next month. Both BJP and Congress have started campaigning in full swing. According to NDTV news, sources say that both the parties are facing difficulties in selecting candidates. This news has come at a time when just a few days ago Congress has started talks with Aam Aadmi Party for seat sharing. Congress wants to strengthen the INDIA alliance which won 5 out of 10 seats in the Lok Sabha elections held in April-June.

The biggest challenge before the Congress is regarding seat sharing. Just like in the Lok Sabha elections, this time too there are differences between the state and central leaders. Haryana Congress leaders are not ready to give up more than 90 seats in the state. According to sources, there are also differences on which seats to give to AAP. On some of the seats that AAP wants to contest, Congress veteran and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda wants to give tickets to his/her loyalists. Sources said that Congress will field wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia on its ticket. Congress and AAP announced an ‘in principle’ agreement on Wednesday.

Tussle in BJP over ticket

The uproar has started for the BJP in Haryana even before the elections. Many leaders did not get tickets, due to which there is resentment in the party. Jail Minister Ranjit Chautala and MLA Laxman Napa resigned after their tickets were cut. Chautala said that he/she will now contest the elections as an independent, while Napa met Congress leader Hooda and talked about joining the Congress. Chautala is the son of veteran Haryana leader Devi Lal Chaudhary. Devi Lal has also been the Chief Minister and Deputy Prime Minister twice. Chautala wanted to contest from Rania seat, from where he/she won as an independent in 2019. Later he/she joined the BJP and contested from Hisar Lok Sabha seat, where he/she faced defeat. This time BJP has given ticket to Shishpal Kamboj from Rania seat. At the same time, OBC Morcha state president Karan Dev Kamboj, angry with the ticket being cut, has also resigned. he/she said, ‘Maybe BJP no longer needs loyal people.’ Kamboj accused the BJP of giving tickets to leaders who came from opposition parties.
