‘Halal should be replaced with humanity…’, Kangana replied to Sonu Sood on the order of UP government


New Delhi : BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has questioned actor Sonu Sood’s stance on the UP government’s directive to display the names of owners on food shops on the Kanwar Yatra route. Sonu Sood had said in relation to the UP government’s order that only ‘humanity’ should be displayed on the shop’s nameplate. Reacting to Sonu Sood’s stance, Kangana Ranaut said, ‘Agree, Halal should be replaced with ‘humanity’.’ Earlier, script writer Javed Akhtar had also reacted to the ongoing controversy over the incident. he/she had strongly criticised the UP administration. Javed Akhtar posted on Twitter, “Muzaffarnagar UP police have directed that in the near future all shops, restaurants and even vehicles on the route of a particular religious procession should display the owner’s name prominently and clearly. Why? In Nazi Germany they used to mark only certain shops and houses.

What was the order of the UP government?

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered that the name and identity of the operator/owner must be displayed at the catering shops located on the Kanwar Yatra route so that the sanctity of the faith of the pilgrims is maintained. Apart from this, action will be taken against those selling halal-certified products. The Uttar Pradesh government’s move to make the use of ID cards mandatory at all shops in the state falling on the Kanwar Yatra route has resulted in a political tug-of-war between the BJP and the opposition.
