Kamala Harris Education: Kamala Harris created new records in US politics as soon as she became the Vice President. She was the first Black American and South Asian American citizen to win the Vice President election. For the last four years, she has been leading the country along with President Joe Biden. Kamala Harris is a contender for the post of President in this year’s election. The Democratic Party has made her its candidate and she is pitted against Donald Trump. Kamala Harris was working as a lawyer in California before joining politics. Kamala was born in Oakland, California. Her mother Shyamala Gopalan is from India. The journey of the US Vice President so far has been full of ups and downs. Kamala Harris’s parents got divorced when she was seven years old, after which she stayed with her mother. Kamala Harris has studied from both America and Canada. Let us know how educated she is.

How far has Kamala Harris studied?

Kamala Harris’s mother Shyamala got a job as a researcher at McGill University School of Medicine in Canada in 1976. After this the whole family shifted to Montreal. Kamala Harris started her studies here. She graduated from West High School in Montreal in 1981. After this Kamala took admission in Vanier College in Montreal, where she studied till 1981-82. However, then Kamala Harris came to America for further studies.

Kamala Harris took admission in Howard University in Washington DC in 1982. This college is historically known for its black students. Kamala Harris said during a program that she always wanted to study in a historically black college. The Vice President received a graduation degree in Economics and Political Science from Howard in 1986. Kamala has said many times that the time spent at Howard has been the most important in her life.

After completing her studies at Harvard, Harris enrolled at the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law, now renamed the University of California College of Law, San Francisco. While in law school, Harris also served as president of the Black Law Students Association. She earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in 1989 and became a part of the California Bar Association in 1990.
