Govinda’s wife had converted to Christianity, Sunita’s decision to drink alcohol, goes to temple and church


Govinda has been married to Sunita Ahuja since 1987. The couple has known each other for over 40 years and are still together. Sunita, who stays away from showbiz, is known for her outspoken personality and unfiltered nature. She never minces her words and has been spotted with Govinda at events and interviews over the years. Coming from a wealthy family, Sunita is half Punjabi and half Nepali but follows Christianity. In a new interview, she revealed the reason behind her conversion. Recently, Sunita Ahuja appeared on the podcast show ‘Timeout with Ankit’. During the conversation, she shared many interesting anecdotes from her childhood, her love story with Govinda and life after marriage. She recalled an interesting incident where she studied in a Christian school and one day secretly converted to Christianity without telling her parents. The star’s wife said that she took this decision so that she could have some wine.

Sunita Ahuja had converted to Christianity

Sunita said, “I was born in Bandra. I was baptised. I was in a Christian school and all my friends were Christians. As a child, I heard that Jesus’ blood had wine in it. And I thought to myself, ‘wine means wine’. I was always very clever. There is nothing wrong in drinking, I just converted to Christianity to have a little wine.”

Sunita goes to gurudwara, temple and church

Sunita said that she still follows Christianity and goes to church on Saturdays. Later she was asked if her parents were upset with her decision. But Sunita said that they never came to know about it. Apart from this, she told that she also visits dargahs, gurudwaras and temples.

Govinda used to refuse to wear mini skirts

Sunita recalled the cultural differences between her and Govinda. She revealed that she was from Bandra, which was a posh area at that time, while Govinda lived in Virar. So, he/she disliked her wearing miniskirts and said that his/her mother would not like it either. That is why he/she started wearing saris for her mother.
