Govinda had hit a girl with an umbrella in college and had thrown hot milk on her, Sunita liked this.

Govinda and his/her wife Sunita Ahuja got married in the year 1987. Govinda had just completed his/her graduation and soon after that both of them were introduced by a family member. Govinda had not come into films then. In an old interview, Sunita had told that when her sister’s husband (Govinda’s relative) told her about Govinda, she felt that he/she did not even talk to women. Actually, he/she was told that Govinda had become violent with two girls in college. The surprising thing is that Sunita was very happy to hear this about Govinda and she had shown interest in meeting him/her. In an episode of Farrukh Sheikh’s hosted show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’, Sunita told that she had met him/her for the first time. Had heard about Govinda once from my brother-in-law. Actually, Govinda seems to be his/her nephew and he/she often used to praise him/her. When Sunita asked about him/her, she was told that Govida did not talk to girls.

Minister’s daughter was living as a maid in Govinda’s house, used to stay awake till night, Sunita said – I got suspicious when I saw her washing utensils.

Brother-in-law told that Govinda beat the girls

Sunita had said, ‘My brother-in-law told that Govinda has beaten girls. he/she said don’t talk to him/her. he/she said that Govinda had actually killed two girls in his/her college. he/she hit one of them with an umbrella and threw hot milk on the face of another girl. he/she doesn’t talk to girls at all.

‘You call him/her and I will talk to him/her’

Sunita further said, ‘So I started wondering who is this boy who does not talk to girls. I told my brother-in-law to call him/her and I will talk to him/her. That’s when I met him/her. Soon after this both of them got married. At this time Sunita was only 18 years old. Recently in an interview given to ‘Hauterrfly’, he/she told that his/her father did not attend the wedding because he/she did not approve of his/her marriage.

Sunita belonged to a rich family of Bandra

When Govinda and Sunita met, the financial background of both was quite different. Actually Sunita was from a rich family of Bandra, while Govinda was then a struggling artist from Virar. Since they got engaged secretly, no one in the film industry came to know about their love-story.

he/she was in love with Neelam Kothari

In an interview given to ‘Stardust’ in 1990, Govinda said that he/she had thought of breaking up with Sunita because he/she had fallen in love with Neelam Kothari. he/she had said, ‘I could not stop praising her (Neelam). From your friends, from your family. Even from Sunita, to whom I was committed. I would tell Sunita to change herself and become like Neelam. I would tell him/her to learn from him/her. Sunita used to get irritated and she would say to me – You loved me because I will remain the way I am, never try to change me.

‘I was looking for a girl with whom I could hang out’

he/she further said, ‘But I was very confused. I didn’t know what to adopt. In the same interview, Govinda confessed that he/she never intended to have such a serious relationship with Sunita. he/she said- I was looking for a girl with whom I could hang out.

Brother gave advice for romance

Govinda said that he/she had to do a romantic scene on screen but he/she was very uncomfortable about it in real life, so his/her brother advised him/her to go out with someone to experience some romance.
