Government’s focus on green energy and G20 presidency, how will the two be coordinated?

India Green Energy: The central government is focusing a lot on green energy. The government is trying to coordinate with other countries of the world regarding green energy. This is the reason why the government has made a big plan for green energy in its financial budget. The government has announced several measures for initiatives related to green fuel, green farming, green mobility, green buildings and green equipment. On the other hand, at this time India is presiding over the G20, so the focus on green energy will be more.

The government announced an outlay of Rs 19,700 crore for the recently launched National Green Hydrogen Mission. In which it has been said that it will facilitate the transition of the economy to low carbon intensity. In this, a target of annual production of 500 MMT (million metric tons) of green hydrogen has been set by 2030.

‘Union budget shows the will of the country’

Girish R Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Energy said, “The Union Budget presents a positive outlook for the renewable energy sector in India. The allocation of Rs 35,000 crore for green energy transmission is a step in the right direction and reflects the country’s desire for a sustainable future.

He said, ‘The government’s commitment to increase the use of renewable energy in the country is commendable and will play an important role in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change. The National Green Hydrogen Mission will complement our efforts towards net zero.

India has done amazing work in these areas

Indian renewable energy sector is the fourth most attractive renewable energy market in the world. By 2020, India was ranked fourth in wind power, fifth in solar power and fourth in renewable energy installed capacity. The installed renewable energy generation capacity has gained momentum in the last few years. According to India Brand Equity Foundation, India is the fastest growing market in renewable electricity and new capacity addition is expected to double by 2026.

‘The focus is on green energy’

Jose Jacob, Managing Director, Antony Waste Handling Cell, said, “With India presiding over the G20 till November 2023, the focus is on adoption of green energy and efforts have been made to scale up BioCNG well. We are happy that the budget has given special attention to our industry.
