Goofy Pental and Ratan Tata lived in the same hostel, the actor said – for the first time I saw a wonder in a car.


The country’s veteran businessman and great personality Ratan Tata is no longer among us. Ratan Tata had close relations with only a few Bollywood stars. Goofy Pental, who played the role of Shakuni Mama in the serial ‘Mahabharata’, is also one of them. Goofy Pental once narrated the story of his/her friendship with Ratan Tata and his/her engineering days. Ratan Tata died on 9 October. While people not only in the country but all over the world are in mourning over his/her demise, film personalities also expressed their grief for him/her. Now that video of Goofy Pental’s YouTube account is once again in the news in which he/she is heard saying many interesting things about Ratan Tata.

‘I then lived in room number 22 and Ratan Tata lived in room number 1’

In the video, Goofy is seen narrating the story of when he/she stayed in the same hostel with Ratan Tata while studying engineering in Jamshedpur in the late 1960s. he/she said, ‘Sir Ratan Tata, I am talking about 1960, when I was studying engineering at Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, Jamshedpur, Tata Nagar. I lived in a hostel, called Dealers Hostel, which was in Telco. My room number there used to be 22. Ratan Tata had come at that time directly after completing his/her training from NASA, America. he/she is a few years older than me. he/she also lived in room number 1 in the same hostel.

Goofy Pental had said- Ratan used to take us in the car and go on picnics.

he/she further said, ‘he/she is a very wonderful gentleman. That means respect for the family to which he/she belongs… he/she is the chief of tomorrow’s, today’s, Tata company. And I feel very proud. Being an Indian and also as a friend. I miss his/her small talk. he/she used to take us along in his/her car on picnics. he/she had a very close friendship with me.

Goofy Painter told- I was the only student there whom he/she called to his/her room.

While narrating this story further, Goofy had said, ‘I was the only student there whom he/she used to call to his/her room and talk to me a lot. At that time he/she had a silver colored Plymouth convertible car, very beautiful and for the first time we saw that there was a Hi-Fi system radio installed there. Having a radio in a vehicle at that time was a wonder, a new thing. So we used to listen to English and Hindi songs. And sometimes there was a Binaka Geetmala also.

Ratan Tata had given the keys and said – take mother to Jamshedpur.

he/she said, ‘So Ratan took great care of everyone there, but he/she took care of me the most. Sometimes he/she would even give me the keys of his/her car. Once I remember my mother had come. So when mother came and was staying at a relative’s place and I used to go to meet her from the hostel, Ratan came to me and silently gave the key in my hand and said, Goofy, take mom for a tour. Show them Jamshedpur, show them Dimna Lake, show them Jubilee Park. So my friend was like this, very kind hearted.

Ratan Tata had said – no deal with Pakistan

Praising him/her, Goofy said, ‘he/she is such an Indian who absolutely refused to give goods to Pakistan. When a huge order for cars was placed in Pakistan. There was an attack in India in the year 2008 and in that the Taj Mahal hotel was also attacked and many people also died. After that Ratan Tata Saheb, a businessman, in the name of being an Indian said – No deal with Pakistan. So these are my friends.

‘I see that my friend Ratan Tata Saheb was inside that car’

he/she narrated another anecdote and said, ‘After a long time, once I was standing on the linking road, I was crossing the road. I had to go to the other side, where my car was parked. Meanwhile, a very big car stopped and there were two big dogs behind it. Then I saw that my friend Ratan Tata Saheb was inside. he/she stopped the car, looked at me and asked – Hi Goofy, how are you, is everything okay? I said- everything is fine. he/she asked- Are you going somewhere? Can I give you a lift? he/she said- I am going to Malad, Mud Island, then I said- No Ratan, thank you so much, I am crossing, my car is on that side. So such generous men, such dear friends, such personalities came to India and Tata Company brought our name, the name of our country, to the entire world. A gentleman who is always ready to help anyone.

Ratan Tata dies at the age of 86 in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai

Let us tell you that Ratan Tata died on Wednesday night at the age of 86 in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. he/she was one of India’s most popular and respected industrialists. he/she helped the Tata Group reach new heights and transformed the country with his/her contributions to business as well as philanthropy and other fields. Today it seems as if the entire country has become empty due to the departure of just one person. Let us also tell you here that Goofy Paintal is also no longer with us. he/she died on 5 June 2023.
