American aircraft engine manufacturer General Electric (GE) is going to give Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) the first engine among the 99 GE-404 engine this month. This engine will increase the strength of Tejas Mark 1-A fighter aircraft. The delivery of the engine has been delayed by two years, causing concern in the Indian Air Force (IAF). The 716 million USD deal was done in 2021. Along with this, India is also working to create the GE-414 engine in India for the AMCA developed by DRDO.

12 more engines will be available this year

According to sources, the first engine is on the test-bed and will be given by the end of this month. After this, GE 2025 will give 12 engines and then 20 engines every year. HAL is working with GE to create the GE-414 engine in India. This work is being done under ICT between the National Security Advisers of India and the United States. The GE-414 engine will make the Advance Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) aircraft made by DRDO powerful.

A committee has been formed by the Ministry of Defense
