‘Good news’ for Indian students, top US university will open campus in India!

Johns Hopkins University India Campus: Whenever the world’s top medical university is mentioned, the name of America’s Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is definitely mentioned in it. This American university may soon open its campus in India. In fact, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with a high level delegation of the university on Sunday. Where both sides discussed the possibilities of setting up a campus of Johns Hopkins University in India.
The 12-member delegation was led by JHU President Ronald J. Daniels. The delegation also included officials from the ‘Gupta Klinsky India Institute’ (GKII), an internal unit of JHU. Its objective is to connect the JHU community with Indian partners through research, education, policy and practice. The main topic of discussion in the meeting was to strengthen academic and research collaboration between JHU, a private university located in the state of Maryland, and higher educational institutions of India.

What did the Education Minister say?

A statement issued by the Education Ministry said, Dharmendra Pradhan stressed on increasing innovation and entrepreneurship among the students of both the countries. “Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the transformative opportunities of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) during the meeting. he/she highlighted how the NEP seeks to advance educational collaboration and India’s education sector,” the statement said. ” Senior officials of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of External Affairs were also present in the batak.

The Education Minister appreciated JHU’s commitment to building strong partnerships with higher education institutions in India, supporting dual and joint degree programmes, student-faculty exchanges. he/she also praised JHU for its research partnerships in sectors like data science, artificial intelligence and futuristic technology. The ministry stressed that the visit of Daniels and the delegation highlights the growing importance of India-US educational cooperation.

Johns Hopkins University is a private research university located in Baltimore, Maryland. It is counted among the top medical universities of the world. It has been ranked 32nd in the QS World University Rankings 2025. If we talk about the top universities only for medical studies, then JHU has got the third position. However, not only medical studies are done in Johns Hopkins University, but courses like MBA, Engineering, Business Management are also taught here.
