Good news for B.Ed people, now one year M.Ed will be admitted from the next session

How many years are the med: The one -year Master of Education (M.ED) program will also start in the country. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) decided to resume a one -year Bachelor of Education (B.ED) course some time ago. So far the M.Ed course is two years old. NCTE Chairman Prof. Pankaj Arora said that whether a candidate has done one year B.Ed, a two-year graduation teaching program or a 4-air integrated teacher education program (ITEP course), students in a one-year-old category M.Ed will be eligible to do. Pr. Arora says that on the basis of the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020, UGC had released new guidelines in June 2024 to start the Post Graduate i.e. PG courses. A one -year M.Ed course is being started under the same guidelines.

M.Ed course of only one year from 2026

NCTE Chairman Prof. Pankaj Arora said that applications will be invited from teaching institutions for one year of master’s program in 2025. After that this course will start with a session of 2026-27. When a one -year M.Ed course starts, then admission in two -year M.Ed program will not be from 2026.

The syllabus will be prepared for a one -year program, in which the biggest priority will be decided keeping in mind the quality. Under the new education policy, NCTE is now giving a new look to the teaching program. So that syllabus can be prepared keeping in mind the challenges of the present time.

‘Curriculum quality’ will be the same

NCTE is now starting a one -year B.Ed course after 10 years. It is also launching ITEP Yoga Education, ITEP Physical Education, ITEP Sanskrit, ITEP Performing Art Education Specialized Stream. A new power committee of 8 members has been formed to prepare a new Karikulam framework of all these courses.

The committee will ensure that the teaching program is prepared keeping in mind the needs of the country and the global standard. The quality of courses should be better and better. Prof. Arora says that whether the student does one year course, two years or four years, the quality of all B.Ed programs is the same. The principle of equality in courses should also be taken into consideration.
