Ghaziabad was established 300 years ago in 1740. At that time, Mughal emperor Ahmed Shah was ruling here. Ghaziuddin was the king’s vizier at that time. It was he/she who founded this city, hence the name of this city was taken from Ghazi-ud-din. he/she first named this city Ghaziuddin Nagar and later its name was shortened to Ghaziabad.

Evidence obtained from a research conducted near the Hindon River in Ghaziabad shows that the city of Ghaziabad dates back to 2500 BC. There is a village named Kot on the east border of Ghaziabad. It is said that it had the support of Samudragupta. In the fourth century there was a fierce war between Samudragupta and Kot Kuljam. After conquering the fort, Samudragupta performed Ashwamedha Yagya in Kot village itself. It was from here that the foundation of Ghaziabad was laid and this city came into existence.
