New Delhi : German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on a three-day visit to India. Scholz on Friday praised India’s efforts for peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Scholz said India’s efforts to talk to all stakeholders in search of a peaceful solution are commendable. Scholz also called for a ceasefire in the Middle East. German Chancellor Scholz wrote on social media platform I fully support you. As partners, it is important to be able to speak directly on many topics, including geopolitical issues. It is notable that the German Chancellor’s comments come days after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni appreciated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concerns regarding the situation in Ukraine.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday praised bilateral relations with India. he/she said that his/her government wants to continue this trend. After his/her conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Scholz wrote on X, ‘In this world we need friends and allies – just like India and Germany. Dear Narendra Modi ji, heartily thank you for the warm welcome in New Delhi! The two leaders inaugurated the 18th Asia Pacific Summit of German Business (APK 2024). Also addressed him/her. Both of them also participated in the 7th Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) under the motto of ‘Growing together through Innovation, Mobility and Sustainability’ at Hyderabad House.

It was a pleasure to meet him/her (Scholz) and discuss various issues that will give impetus to India-Germany friendship. Our countries have a strong track record of development cooperation and we look forward to taking this further in the times to come.

The reason behind this is that it is essential to protect trade and economic cooperation. Addressing the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024 in New Delhi, he/she also noted the persistent tensions in regions such as the Middle East, South and East China Seas and the threats posed by Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reiterated India’s commitment to resolving the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. After meeting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said, “The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of concern for both of us. India has always believed that problems cannot be solved by war and India is ready to make every possible contribution for restoration of peace.
