Germany is inviting Indian students for research, apply for DESY programme, what are the conditions?

DESY Summer Program for Indians: Are you studying Physics and want to go abroad and do research in this subject? If your answer is yes then you have a golden opportunity to go to Germany and do research. Actually, a research program is being run in Germany, under which students from all over the world can apply. The name of this program is ‘DESY Summer Programme’, for which the online application process is ongoing. Indian students can also apply for this and do research in Germany.
DESY is a national research facility located in Hamburg, Germany. Here every year undergraduate students studying Physics or other fields like engineering and computers are called for research. ‘DESY Summer Program’ 2025 will start from July 22 next year, which is scheduled to run till September 11. Undergraduate students can apply for an eight-week training program. Research projects like theory, software development, scientific computing, actual detector work will be done here.

In which programs will training be conducted?

Training is going to be conducted in programs like ‘Photon Science’, ‘Astroparticle Physics’ and ‘Elementary Particle Physics and Accelerators’. The last date to apply for DESY Summer Program is January 31, 2025. Students are informed that they can apply online by visiting summerstudents.desy.de. Students will get an opportunity to work with professionals related to their field during the research program. Students will also be given the facility to stay in DESY hostel. Along with this, they will also get financial help for daily expenses.

What is the eligibility criteria?

Students who have studied Physics or related subjects for three years can apply under this program. Physics students are also eligible for most of the projects available in the DESY Summer Student Program 2025. Students with Bachelor’s degree in Physics, students pursuing Master’s program and students who are soon to complete their graduation can also apply for ‘DESY Summer Programme’ 2025.
