The Meteorological Department had predicted light rain and strong winds at the speed of 30-40 kmph in and around many places in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department, however, said that the temperature increased and the maximum temperature was recorded at 52.3 degrees Celsius at 4.14 pm (before the change in weather). The maximum temperature of 52.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Mungeshpur area of ​​​​Delhi on Wednesday, which is the highest temperature so far in the national capital.

Temperature in Jammu and Kashmir is close to 45 degrees
The temperature in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir continued to rise and on Wednesday the maximum temperature in this city was recorded at 44.8 degree Celsius, which is about 5.7 degrees more than the average temperature of this season. Meteorological Department officials said that the region has been experiencing severe heat for the last one week and since May 16, the temperature is being recorded above 40 degree Celsius continuously. They said that the day temperature in Jammu city was about 5.7 degree Celsius more than the average of this season. The Meteorological Department said that the temperature in Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi temple, was recorded at 40 degree Celsius, while the temperature in Leh city was 21 degree Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Kathua, which is called the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir, was recorded at 46.1 degree Celsius, while Samba recorded 44.7 degree Celsius, Udhampur recorded 42 degree Celsius and Reasi recorded 41.7 degree Celsius. The maximum day temperature in Srinagar was 32.6 degree Celsius.

The hottest day of the season in Shimla and Una
Shimla and Una cities of Himachal Pradesh had the hottest day of this season on Wednesday. The temperature in Una city was recorded at 46.0 degrees Celsius, which was the highest in at least 19 years. The temperature in Neri of Una district was even higher at 46.3 degrees Celsius. Meteorological department officials said that earlier in Una city, the maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees was recorded in June 2005, May 2013 and June 2019. Monday was the hottest day of the season in Shimla, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius. The process of increasing heat continued in Shimla as well and the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh was recorded at 44.5 degrees, six to eight degrees above normal. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heat wave in the lower hilly areas on Thursday and has predicted rain at some places in the middle and high hill areas from May 30 to June 3.

Monsoon knocks in Kerala and North East
The southwest monsoon is likely to hit the Kerala coast and parts of the Northeast on Thursday, a day ahead of forecast. The India Meteorological Department said on Wednesday, “Conditions will remain favourable for the onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala during the next 24 hours.” The weather office had on May 15 predicted the onset of monsoon over Kerala by May 31. The normal date of onset of monsoon over Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam is June 5. The IMD said, “During this period, conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin, remaining parts of Lakshadweep, southwest and central Bay of Bengal, northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states.”

Severe heat continues in Rajasthan
The period of severe heat continued in Rajasthan on Wednesday as well where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48.2 degrees Celsius in Pilani. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature has decreased by 1-3 degrees Celsius in many places in the last 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Center Jaipur, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 48.2 degrees in Pilani, 47.7 degrees in Churu, 47.5 degrees in Alwar, 47.2 degrees in Vanasthali, 47.0 degrees in Phalodi, 46.9 degrees in Ganganagar and 46.0 degrees Celsius in the capital Jaipur. Almost the entire Rajasthan is in the grip of severe heat for many days and according to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of heat wave is likely to decrease from May 31. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and rain in some parts of Jaipur, Bikaner, Bharatpur divisions in the state from May 31 to June 2. The state will get relief from severe heat from June 1 and the maximum temperature in most parts will come below 45 degrees Celsius.
